The Secretariat Chair is an office chair that rocks forward or back with the shifting of your weight. It has a sculpted, aerodynamic form and features, a bent-laminated seat and back, and pinned, through mortise construction. Designed to look good, feel good, and last a lifetime. Made to order. The frame is either maple or ash and the seat and back can be cherry or walnut (maple and cherry shown).

Mark is an independent furniture designer and craftsman and builds custom pieces in his wood studio in Frederick, Maryland. He is an industrial designer with additional training in furniture design from the Royal Academy of Fine Art, Copenhagen, Denmark, and has refined his woodworking skills at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in Rockport, Maine.

Mark’s style is organic modern and is heavily influenced my both Scandinavian and Japanese design traditions. He draws from his woodworking heritage which goes back six generations through his Scandinavian ancestors.

Mark teaches hand-cut joinery classes and workshops at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center.

Not only is the table a perfect union of beauty and function, Mark delivered the table personally which meant very much to us because obviously he cares just as much as we do.

    I am thrilled about how my coffee table turned out: design, quality, and craftsmanship. Mark was so helpful and patient throughout the design process. He understood what I wanted based on photos of other designs I sent him and he came up with the perfect design. He designed a piece that has minimalist and clean lines, yet that has all the storage that was so important to me as a condo dweller. The workmanship and attention to detail is apparent in the piece. I now have the perfect coffee table for my space that is unique, yet timeless. I cannot recommend Mark enough, whether collaborating with him on a unique design or purchasing a design he already has thought out, as the quality will be second to none.
