Ariana Walnut Mid Century Modern Table Base For Marble Or Stone Top
The Ariana table base was designed for a West Coast client, with shipping cross-country in mind. It ships in a flat custom crate. Easy minor assembly is required. Ariana is inspired by the mid-century modern style, with a light aesthetic, yet strong enough to hold a marble top. The table base is crafted from solid walnut, with mortise and tenon joinery. It is finished with a natural oil, blended with polyurethane. The dimensions for the models shown here are 66"w x 36"d x 30"h (in empty room) and 60"w x 36"d x 30"h (in dining area). This design can be modified for a custom fit. With all table bases, clients source and procure the marble or stone top separately, according to exact drawings Mark provides.

Meet the Maker
Mark Palmquist
Mark Palmquist Design
Mark is an independent furniture designer and craftsman and builds custom pieces in his wood studio in Frederick, Maryland. He is an industrial designer with additional training in furniture design from the Royal Academy of Fine Art, Copenhagen, Denmark, and has refined his woodworking skills at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in Rockport, Maine.
Mark’s style is organic modern and is heavily influenced my both Scandinavian and Japanese design traditions. He draws from his woodworking heritage which goes back six generations through his Scandinavian ancestors.
Mark teaches hand-cut joinery classes and workshops at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center.

He understood what I wanted based on photos of other designs I sent him and he came up with the perfect design. He designed a piece that has minimalist and clean lines, yet that has all the storage that was so important to me as a condo dweller. The workmanship and attention to detail is apparent in the piece. I now have the perfect coffee table for my space that is unique, yet timeless.
