I designed the Ariana Chair to go with the Ariana Dining Table. It is made from solid black American walnut and features mortise and tenon joinery, a sculpted seat, and a comfortable curved back rest. The dimensions are approximately 18"W x 17.8"D x 31.75"H

Mark is an independent furniture designer and craftsman and builds custom pieces in his wood studio in Frederick, Maryland. He is an industrial designer with additional training in furniture design from the Royal Academy of Fine Art, Copenhagen, Denmark, and has refined his woodworking skills at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in Rockport, Maine.

Mark’s style is organic modern and is heavily influenced my both Scandinavian and Japanese design traditions. He draws from his woodworking heritage which goes back six generations through his Scandinavian ancestors.

Mark teaches hand-cut joinery classes and workshops at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center.

We had something in mind when we approached Mark Palmquist Design. We had seen his designs and were confident he could build a beautiful and solid table. Mark Palmquist far exceeded our expectations. The table is more beautiful and solid than initially conceptualized by us. It is an exquisite piece of furniture that will be passed down. Absolutely wonderful work!

For my husband and me, family dinner is sacrosanct but we never could find the table that fit our needs and taste. Mark brought our dream table to life and made it so sturdy we will be sure to enjoy it with grandkids someday. Not only is the table a perfect union of beauty and function, Mark delivered the table personally which meant very much to us because obviously he cares just as much as we do.

Seeking a unique dining table for our recently purchased 1920s vintage home, Mark's Diego table was exactly what we wanted: stylish, well crafted and cleverly engineered. The table is AMAZING! It is exactly what I wanted. Mark communicates well, he sent a video of the table getting built and updated me on the progress of the table. He was very professional and just a nice person. I would use him again.
