Babette Angel Diarama
Sadly, Babette succumbed to cancer at too young and age, this project was designed to be a poignant reminder of her, her three yorkies and kitten that she loved and her present being in heaven. I attempted to bathe the entire scene with golden light, hence the art glass behind of her to allow backlighting, also light colors as much as possible. I used European boxwood in the sunflower stems to prevent breakage since this wood has the toughness and resistance to breakage of Bakelight, a very hard plasticy quality, elsewhere i used hard maple, basswood, pine and walnut according to needs and appearance. It is 17 inches wide, 12 inches high and 8 inches deep.

Working alone, I state working alone because nearly everything that I design and make are works of art made by me alone and signed by me for 20+ years, Ralph produces furnishings and signs rebelling against "mechanical mediocrity" refusing to work within the limitations imposed by machines and produce objets d'art which can only be accomplished with many hours/days/weeks/months of hand tooling.
To summarize, I am an artisan, not merely a furniture maker. Thank you for your interest in my fascination.
