Wounded Warrior Women's Blazer (50% To Charity)

$300

I believe unflinchingly that, whatever our politics, we must all do what we can to help take care of our men and women in uniform and ensure that we fulfill our obligations to support them once they return, especially our wounded warriors. I am deeply moved by the work of the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit that provides services to help our injured veterans to help themselves and each other to recover from physical and emotional trauma as they transition back into civilian life. This re-structured blazer is my small contribution. 50% of its price tag amount will be donated in your name to the Wounded Warrior Project. The original jacket, which belonged to a demobilized veteran, was purchased at an army surplus store. I altered it to be lady-flattering by reshaping the side seams, back, and bust. I also re-set the sleeves and shortened them to a trendy 3/4 length. The fun part was pulling apart the lapels and top pockets to replace the top side with a flowered Asian silk. I also removed the flaps of the bottom pockets, trimmed them in green petersham ribbon, and then tacked the sides with copper sequins. Ribbon also trims the border of the button placket, where the standard issue plastic buttons have been replaced with silver flowers. A wider ribbon circles the narrowest part of the waist, jogging up at the center back vent, which is trimmed with a disciplined bow. In all, a studiously weighed marriage of tough and fierce and womanly and delicate: my favorite m.o. Each jacket will be made to order and thus will vary individually, every one a unique garment and a proud testament to our commitment to our veterans. Many thanks. SHIPPING.
