*****(8/14/2015) ALL of our reproduction prints will now be offered as GICLEE prints utilizing high quality, matte ART Paper (similar to watercolor paper) and archival inks!!***** A very handsome reproduction, Japanese Gotaku print of two BROCADED CARP, or better known to most as "KOI", carefully printed from the top as this is how most of us view these majestic creatures. The Japanese Koi is one of the most celebrated fish for their character and beauty. Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese alternative to Taxidermy that began several hundred years ago by a ingenious calligrapher. Meant as a way to record a proud catch for fishermen, it is also a stunning art form. All of my prints are done in the old, traditional "direct" method where the ink/pigments are applied directly onto the fish and then covered with paper to produce an exact, mirror image of the specimen. This particular image (nishiki goi) has been reproduced on a 19x13 fine art paper (similar to watercolor paper), Giclee print, with a one inch white border around the image. Frame is not included. Prints will ship first class via tubes for protection! Please don't hesitate in contacting me regarding this print or other specimens that you may be looking for!
