I start with a general idea of what my customer wants me to illustrate in an Art Nouveau style, but with a bit more modern imagery. A little bit of fantasy or surrealism is thrown in to add a dynamic interest to the eye. I need to know what the customer is looking for in their imagery and what kind of feeling they are wanting the artwork to convey. For example, the first image is of a tea drinker with a bit of an underwater feel. I put the girl in a freshwater environment, adding waterlily pads as a teacup saucer and goldfish to echo the colors of orange from the water reflections and the girl's hair. I can dress the human character in modern clothing, art nouveau style clothing, or they can be tastefully nude. I just need to know what the client is looking for. I try to incorporate the characteristics of the product into each artwork as well. For example, one usually drinks coffee and tea when it is cold outside. I gave the coffee female a more American style while the tea drinker is in a more Asian style. I can illustrate anything you desire in this beautiful Art Nouveau style. I need about 8 weeks after working out the details with the client to draw out, paint, and mail the artwork. Framing is not included in the price.
