Leather Bound Handmade Journal

$250

This commissioned journal was designed for a colleague. Beautiful rich sepia leather with hand hammered copper adornment. His lovely wife conspired in its creation securing a signature commercial trademark, "Felton," the purple armadillo. You can see the image in the lower corner on the inside cover. This journal is clearly not for sale but I'd be flattered to make one for you and use your ideas, art and imagination. Pick a color of leather, dimensions, number of pages and on and on. Just get in touch with me -Measures 6.25" x 8.5" x 1 1/2" in fold-over design -Hand-cut & trimmed dark sepia oil tanned leather -Hand hammered copper on front cover -45" removable strap with copper tips secured with hammered copper loop on spine -Original watercolor in purple on middle page -Incorporation of trademark on inside covers (front & back)

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele. Just find me and we can discuss making one to suit your individual needs and taste
