I bet I can make it! -Measures 6 5/8"x 9"x 1 1/4", hand cut & trimmed -Fold-over design of rich burnt orange leather from end cut hide -39" removable leather strap secured with buff color leather loop on spine -Original watercolors in autumn's gold, orange and copper on both inside covers and middle signature -Five hand stitched signatures (waxen linen thread) -Total of 114 hand torn, deckle edged pages (front & back) of imported Italian Folio fine arts/printmaking paper -Middle page, middle signature features a real sweetgum leaf, varnished and on it's own hand torn watercolor -Inside cover features lapel of dark buff leather -Cover features a cut amber glass, lead free soldered with copper patina -European head bands -You can bet I signed it!

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele.
