-Measures 4 1/2" x 6" x 1 1/4" of hand cut & trimmed purple leather -Constructed into fold-over design -38" adjustable/removable purple leather strap -Inside covers and all signatures feature original watercolors -Five hand-stitched signatures of Folio watercolor/printmaking paper -Signatures stitched with waxen linen thread -100 writable pages with deckle edge for art of most any kind of art -Finished with European head bands -Artist signature of course Custom made leather/diary journal commission for a young artist. Her Momma informed that purple and lime green were the colors of choice. She gave me approximate dimensions and number of pages. This images shown are the finished product. Let me make a custom leather journal/diary to suit your taste. I have a great many vintage maps. Hand torn pieces from old maps to adorn the inside covers look very cool. Specific to your part of the world or destination, make it personal and unique. Or watercolors to suit your taste. A particular cut or color of leather? Size, number of pages? All my journals are constructed from the finest art paper with hand torn pages. Covers are hand-cut and trimmed. I use hammered metal, glass and stone to embellish.

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele.
