Leather bound and handmade leather pocket journal from rich burnt red-brown cowhide. Marbled and textured leather, this is a super cool, durable and handsome little journal/diary. And it's perfect for all the reasons and occasions just you know. And there's that very distinctive, slender strip of hand hammered copper that likely you just won't see anywhere else. No wait . . . I use it on many of my journals, everyone one truly hand bound using bookmaker's binding and glue. No sewing those pages to the cover -Measures 4 3/4" x 5" x 7/8" of rich burnt red brown cowhide -Constructed in fold-over design -20" soft leather strap, adjustable and removable -Very slender hand-hammered copper strip adorns front cover and secures strap -Some very cool vertically lined pages in Prisma color pencil -Four hand stitched signatures of Folio antique white printmaking/fine art paper -Signatures are hand stitched using waxen linen thread -64 deckle edge pages for recording, writing or artwork all with deckle edges -European headbands -Journal maker signature

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele.
