Pretty damn cool handmade and hand bound journal made of rugged buff color, oil tanned leather. The book is filled with original serigraphic artwork from my ltd editon silk screen print, "All on the Surface" and more than 60 pages of imported bright white pages to record, draw or doodle. Some of the original pencil registration marks can be seen on numerous pages. Inspiration for any artist or writer, this journal will go anywhere and is certain to capture the attention of any who see it. Go ahead and show it to them, let 'em feel the leather and thumb through the pages and ask, "Where did you get it?" I sign all my journals, endear them if the customer prefers. -Measures 3 5/8" x 4 3/4" x 1" -Made from buff colored, oil-tanned leather -Fold over design -Removable 21" soft tan leather strap secured by complimentary burgundy leather loop to spine -Four hand stitched signatures of 8 pages/each, for a total of 64 pages (front & back) -Imported BFK/Rives white printmaking paper -All pages are hand torn for classic deckle edges -Original silk screen imagery, hand torn to fit inside covers (front & back) -Each signature is wrapped in original silk screen -Finished withEuropean head bands and signed by the artist

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele.
