Distressed pigskin journal, truly bound with 100 hand torn pages of Stonehenge fine art/watercolor/printmaking paper. This is the paper I use for editions of multi-run silk screen prints. It's capable of recording most any medium or instrument of your choice. So choose your weapon! Oil pastels, conte, watercolor, gauche, pen & ink and on an on (whatever). This journal will accommodate you. OK, about pigskin: super neat, rugged, durable, water repellent and snake proof. And cool looking. This is a bound journal with me in mind. I'm an outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter. I spend time on this alluvial bayou. When I take a journal out on the water, the duck blind or to set lines . . . it's bound with pigskin. Not a manly man alive who wouldn't want this journal. Or one similar. maybe bigger or with more pages or something personal laser jet printed on the inside cover page. Let me know. I'll make it for you. BTW, that hand cut & polished copper keyhole has a beautiful turquoise patina -Measures 6" x 7-5/8" x 1-1/4" of rugged oil tanned distressed pigskin leather -Hand cut & trimmed into stylish fold over design -44" hand cut, fully adjustable/removable pigskin leather strap double wraps -Five hand stitched signatures of Stonehenge 250w fine art/watercolor paper -Hand cut & polished copper keyhole with natural turquoise patina -All pages hand torn with deckle edge -Signatures stitched with waxen linen thread -100+ hand torn deckle edge pages -Hand cut pocket/sleeve on back -Finished with imported silk head bands -Custom laser jet printing available so ask me about it -Signed by journal maker My journals are truly hand bound books. No floppy signatures stitched to the spine, these journals are constructed using standard bookbinding materials. Every page is hand torn 250w fine art paper and most journals are adorned with original artwork and hand hammered copper, brass or silver

As sole proprietor at Studio of Visual Arts, I have been a professional illustrator and printmaker for 35 years. My illustrative work is represented in five Louisiana State Museums, countless corporate collections and has received numerous prestigious grants. NewSouthBooks was born as a natural extension of that same artisanship. I am now producing and marketing handmade, leather bound journals of quality and distinction, each journal a unique presentation with original artwork as adornment. All leather, new or old, is hand-cut and trimmed. I use only the highest quality fine art/printmaking paper (250w), hand stitching each signature. My leather journals are truly bound books using traditional book binding materials. Adding to the distinction is the incorporation of original artwork to inside covers and often, the middle signature. On this site, you'll see many examples of work previously completed for clientele. Just find me and we can discuss making one to suit your individual needs and taste
