Hand-Blocked Floppy Hat

$180

This hand blocked wool felt is hand cut to shape. An edgy new brim shape inspired by a saw blade and a vintage VOGUE cover. One of my signature pieces. Because it's hand cut, blade shape may vary slightly. All my hats are meticulously hand-blocked and stitched in my NYC studio. This hat has a machine stitched grosgrain head-size ribbon inside which allows me to keep the price lower than my other hats. I still use classic, centuries-old couture millinery techniques & some new techniquess in my work. I learned my trade working as a millinery Assistant to a Broadway milliner. I still make hats for Broadway shows, movies and tv. Avail. in any color wool available to the market. Please inquire if you have a specific color in mind. Photo Credits:Greg Buyalos,

About me:
I have been a Broadway milliner for over 15 years. I'm am also a painter.I started my career in textiles, jewelry and fashion, working for Donna Karan, JLO,Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, and Liz Claiborne. In the past 15+ years I've been creating hats for Broadway & other theatrical productions including The Lion King, Caberet, Motown, Annie, MammaMia & many movies. My work has also been seen on celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Carol Alt & Jennifer Lopez (just to name a few.)

About my work: Classic accessories that maintain a trendy edge are my specialty. I handcraft pieces of wearable artwork. I love to combine different art mediums into one project. My latest collection of handbags uses millinery straw as the main textile. My hats are adorned with metal and jewerly making techniques.

I mix the classic with the modern to create things that are unique. I'm inspired by everything retro and modern. I like to merge the sculpture of making hats with the art of painting to create intersting and inovative designs.

I love working with my clients to create something unique and special. Making your dream a reality makes me happy.
