Metal – Modern / Industrial Plate Steel Reception Desk With Maple Live Edge Slab Top
This is a custom fabricated reception desk made of clear coated hot rolled steel plate for the build out of a corporate headquarters in a vintage industrial space. Design was by the project architect and detailing / fabrication by us. The panels were all cut from a single 6'x10' sheet of plate so that the metal grain pattern would run continuously throughout the piece from left to right. Steel panels are held in place by exposed flat socket head screws. The piece features upper privacy panel routed into the live edge maple slab and a lower modesty panel. Cutting was done by water jet so that the steel panels could be "scribed" to fit the uneven concrete factory floor. Approximate Dimensions of Top: 48" w x 108" l x 2" h; Cube Base Unit: 32" w x 32" d x 28" h.

Andrew Stansell is a Chicago based furniture and lighting designer, fabricator & sculptor who produces his own designs and offers custom lighting, furniture and metal fabrication services.
He strives for a sense of simplicity, honesty and authenticity in all his pieces. He seeks to achieve this through well thought-out design and a balanced use of proportion. This is coupled with materials that convey an almost primitive, textural feel, while retaining a sense of refinement and simple elegance.
He often treats steel in the way that traditional wood and moldings have been used in furniture or cabinetry making, and thinks of himself as a furniture maker who happens to be working with metal and welding equipment.

Custom lighting fabrication and modification services available - pendants, chandeliers, sconces, table and floor lamps fabricated from glass and metals; Incandescent, LED, halogen lamping available.
