Luca Montresor
LAM Woodworks
Based in Santa Ana in Orange County, Southern California, I design and manufacture custom cabinetry and furniture. I handle every single aspect of a project: design, production, finishing and installation, with emphasis on client's satisfaction.
Past projects include kitchens, bathrooms, TV rooms, closets and wine cellars, and I have built tables, desks, butcher's blocks, fireplace mantels, all of which I designed myself.
I was born in Italy and grew up in a family totally involved in woodworking and design.
My dad came from a woodworking family tradition dating all the way back to the 17th century; one of my uncle was an architect specialized in interior design, while my other uncle was a set and costume designer plus books illustrator who worked extensively overseas (you can google him : Beni Montresor); finally, my aunt owned a furniture store that was used to sell most of the brand names of italian furniture.
With the exception of Beni, everybody worked close to each other: my aunt shop on first floor, my uncle firm on the second and my dad shop at the back, before we moved to bigger premises.
With such an enviroment, it was only natural that I ended up studying Architecture in Venice and working for two different architectural firms before joining my dad in his business together with my brother, who is still there making custom furniture.

Dec 30, 2014amazing work! you cannot tell the difference between the original and the one Luca made for me... actually I think this is better since he probably use only wood in any part of my bench. Highly recommend. Probably is not Luca fault, I couldn't give 5 stars on Timeliness, but yes it took long. The rest is just perfect!

We were asking for a cedar wood cabinet with a spot for a sink based on photos of something we liked off the internet. We had many proposals from CustomMade but went with Luca because of the quality of his work and his proximity to us (Los Angeles). Luca kept in great communication with us throughout the process, and updated us along the way in a timely manner. The cabinet was finished in the time promised. He personally delivered the cabinet, and brought his tools to make sure the opening for the sink fit perfectly. We couldn't be happier with the end result: a beautifully crafted cabinet that was made for us personally. It was also great meeting Luca and learning about him and his family heritage in Italy making furniture. Luca is obviously a great craftsman and we benefited greatly from his expertise. Thank you!

Oct 15, 2015I love, love, love my bed! Luca is amazing. He made a bed that is crafted a thousand times better than the one in the photo I showed to him. He patiently worked with me on all the details (and waited as I changed my mind.) He helped me find the perfect stain (after I changed my mind again.) The bed is a stunning platform bed with beautifully spaced slats that allow storage underneath the mattress as well as an open storage cubby and six soft close drawers (I will never go back to normal closing drawers!). I cannot recommend Luca enough to anyone looking for reasonably priced, quality woodwork. I will definitely use him for my next project!
