I commonly create these red cedar driftwood (a juniper species) 1/2 log frames to custom sizes for customers. Red cedar undergoes a transformation when becoming driftwood as the river quickly erodes away the lighter color sapwood to reveal the beautiful and bizarre red-brown character of heartwood. It's usually pretty straight as well, so makes for good frame wood. As you can see in the example photos, no two pieces are ever quite the same . . . some can be very knobby and some more smooth with fewer knots. Color can vary a bit too from reddish orange to more dark purplish brown, and some can even have a bit of sapwood left over giving some blondish colors. Your frame is assured to be unique as nature intended! Frame sizes range from 8"x8" to some I've made as big as 24" x 36". Typical depth is 3/8", but can alter the design slightly to accommodate deeper canvas paintings. The wood is sanded to a degree to be smooth, but not destroy the character and finished with my signature oil/varnish blend for natural look. Frames include HD hanging wire and push points. Framing-grade acrylic glass and backer are also options if needed or desired. I can also create custom frames from different types of driftwood, as well as normal wood logs, driftboards, and unique hollow log slices with decent size naturally hollow openings (usually oval and circular shaped). Missouri Nature Art specializes in creating unique furniture and home decor using natural or "live edge" wood and driftwood. We have many items we create on a regular basis, but we really enjoy bringing custom ideas to life!
We love working with beautiful lesser known woods that have a ton of character. All of our wood is either rescued, found, or reclaimed/salvaged from Missouri, although we don't mind branching out into other North American woods for certain projects.
Our hallmarks are great customer service and quality to last a life time. Thanks for browsing our shop!

For Natural Edge Frames Created From Red Cedar DriftwoodExactly what I asked for. Totally custom job -- smaller size and easel back for display on a shelf. Even included plexiglass and extra push points to secure the easel back. Peeled the protective plastic off the plexiglass, trimmed the photo, placed it behind the plexiglass, inserted the easel back, secured with the push points, and sealed the rear edges with framing tape to keep out dust. Perfect frame for a photo of a primitive rock painting.

For Driftwood Cedar Log FrameI have no reasons to give a negative comment! The frame is beautiful. The quality of the wood, the treatment, the sturdiness.. Matt was was very easy to work with and flexible. He worked with me through my questions to come up with the custom frame I was looking for.
Timing was of no issue to me because Matt communicated the project' timeline to me.
Price was that that I trusted Matt for the quote. After receiving the product, I don't feel that any value was lost in the price I paid.
