My name is Barry Stump and my woodworking company is Oscar Woodworks. We are located in the small seaside community of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Woodworking has always been something I have enjoyed. I have always had a fascination with wood and it has truly become my passion. I thoroughly enjoy taking rough cut slabs of lumber and turning them into beautiful handcrafted furniture. One of the areas of furniture making that I specialize in and enjoy are butcher block kitchen tables, butcher block kitchen prep tables, butcher block cutting boards, butcher block countertops and butcher block kitchen islands. I work extensively with walnut, cherry, and hard maple for the majority of the butcher block designs. I also make some very unique coffee tables, dining tables, and benches. For my coffee tables, dining tables, and benches, I use pine and cedar and also a wide variety of hard woods. I believe in making custom furniture with unique designs, strong joints and beautiful finishes that bring out the beauty of the wood.

In 1979 I formed a successful detergent manufacturing company which my family and I operated for nearly 30 years. In those 30 years I learned what it meant to produce the highest quality product with outstanding customer service. I sold my manufacturing company about 8 years ago and created Oscar Woodworks where I have applied that same concept of quality and service. My father’s name was Oscar and he taught me to be honest and work hard to be the best at what I do. Because he was my inspiration, I named my woodworking company Oscar Woodworks. I now enjoy being able to pursue my passion of woodworking every day.

I love working with clients to help make their ideas become a reality. I listen to my clients and I learn from them as well. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you create a truly unique and “one of a kind” piece of furniture!
