Fairy Kisses Twirl Dress

Hello, from the headquarters of Amelie Jo; which is really just me, Anna, a mom and wife living in small town Michigan.

I started Amelie Jo almost 5 years ago when my daughter was 6 months old, as a small, family friendly website that showcased handmade clothing that other moms made. At that time, I never created a garment and did not know how to work a sewing machine. I was really desperate to stay at home with my little girl and still needed to make an income to help my family.

Etsy was just becoming popular and I had an idea for handmade, organic t shirts that featured authentic, vintage graphics. I closed my website after 4 months and jumped into selling through my online shop, Amelie Jo Vintage Inspired Kids, full time. Back then, no one else was selling children's t shirts with vintage graphics and/or vintage embellishments and I was the first shop to coin the keywords "vintage inspired". My designs blossomed into elaborate frocks that featured the Amelie Jo signature pleated hemline in a very short period of time. I purchased a sewing machine and became a self taught seamstress. Bombarded with messages from boutiques, other designers, customers and sales reps, I knew that I was at the forefront of a fashion trend that is still popular today. It was a fantastic time that helped shape a home business that I never planned on. My main goal was always to be a stay at home mom.

My daughter, Amelie Jo, is now five years old and attends school full time. I am forever grateful to my Friends, my customers, who have helped me achieve my dream of being a successful mother, while staying creative and and relevant.
