I created this brooch originally for a friend who is a teacher. Once I made it I thought it would be a great gift for other to give to the teacher in their life, the teacher to be, or anyone who loves language. The bezel if made of wood and the embroidery is done of black felt in white lettering. The brooch has a pin back.

I never could decide which I loved best, quilting or hand embroidery. My mom and grandmother gifted both of these worlds to me. My mom was a master embroiderer. She was left handed, me right handed…learning to create French Knots was especially challenging…and then my dad got involved. ☺
My grandmother found use for every single scrap of fabric. My favorite…when she would create a quilt for one of my dolls. Later after I learned a few embroidery stitches I would embellish these tiny quilts.
I specialize in and create original hand embroidery designs. With these designs I make personal accessories: wrist cuffs, brooches, rings, and necklaces. I also make some clothing and embellish with embroidery.
Hand embroidery and home décor go hand-in-hand. From beautiful quilts, pillows, wall décor all of these items make your home cozy.
Is there a wedding in your future? I would love to create that special keepsake that will remind you of your day. Or, be something that can be passed down as an heirloom in the future. Perhaps a wedding cuff, ring bearer pillow, a wall sampler?
I have also ventured into combining metalwork with embroidery, something that I call dimensional cloisonné embroidery.
