Portable Laptop Stand, MADE TO ORDER I designed the Laptop Riser for all users. The idea was to make a portable laptop stand that would lift up the screen height to alleviate neck strain while looking professional and beautiful. People are loving my Laptop Riser! It's great in the kitchen . . . watch your favorite show or cook along side your favorite chef . . . the screen is raised up so you can see it with ease. I even use it in bed where it really helps the laptop stay cool because it's not smothered by covers! It keeps your lap from overheating and allows air circulation around the computer. Each piece is finely crafted out of beautiful woods that accent each other and your environment. This Ergonomic Laptop Riser is made out of an Anegré Deck with Vermillion and Beech Risers and a Vermillion front edge. Its small and lightweight design packs right in your computer bag with your laptop. This stand comes with the highest "wedge design" offering about a 6" height of the bottom of your screen (exact height depends on your computer thickness and depth). Depending on your working environment, most users like to use an extended keyboard with this laptop stand. You can stow this in your computer bag and take it with you wherever you go. Work healthier and surround yourself with beauty. All work is Made in Portland Oregon, USA by me, Jacquelyn Smith. Custom order your stand. Just drop me a note and I will let you know what woods are available today!

I have been living in the Pacific Northwest since 1991 and currently work in Portland, Oregon. Portland is a fast growing hub of creative energy and inspired Makers. I am one. For me, it has always been about line, shape, function and lets not forget . . . wood. I am awed by it's unique nature and delighted that I get the opportunity to work with it everyday. Each board and every species has it's own unique characteristics. A wild example is the Huon Pine from Tasmania. It is the oldest living tree on the planet at 10, 500 years. They start to reproduce 600 to 800 years of age. That helps put some perspective in the realm of us and them!

The intention behind my work is to highlight the qualities of each piece of wood I handle, to give it a new life, and to help us appreciate and see it for what it is. I am often given the great pleasure to make gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, holidays and just something sweet. What a special honor it is to be the maker of a gift! I get the sweet view of seeing a person love another. Isn't that what it's all about?

My background in both fine art and the construction industry has given me an unusual approach to woodworking and furniture making. I am an artist who makes usable, beautiful objects with wood that I hope will say something about us.

I have a BFA from Cooper Union in NYC, NY and was a contractor for over 15 years designing and remodeling homes in New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Eugene, Oregon. While studying fine art and learning how to carve wood I also studied woodworking and cabinetry. Later I worked for a couple of architectural woodworking shops in Oregon where I learned in a commercial environment making one off custom work.

I make furniture, woodwork , sculpture, laptop stands, specialty boxes, jewelry and probably something else by the time you read this. I love to design and build my own work as well as contract commissions for clients. My passion lies in discovery and invention and the challenge to make something useful in the most beautiful way possible.
I hope you enjoy!
