"Off-Cut" End Table

This piece is for all the pack rats that can't throw anything away. The original length of this salvaged tongue and groove plank was found floating in the Narraganset Bay and used as stair treads on a project by a design/build architecture studio with which I work in close relation. My sentimentality for this plank of wood called for these off cuts to be used in some fashion. The steel supports offer little more than an armature for the now permanently disconnected ends of this found object. The original illustration is a diagram of discontinuity between members or elements of a system.

I am Southern Illinois based designer and custom builder with 18 years experience in metal fabrications, carpentry and custom installations. My background in both sculpture and architecture have helped in developing the capacity to recognize the spatial implications and conceptual potency of the objects with which we interact daily.
I have a particular interest in objects and installations that produce spatial relationships between users, program shifts and versatility, and help the owner/occupant express themselves through the act of dwelling.
I believe in the intuitions of my clients, and work to maintain an open dialogue and a collaborative spirit. As such, I often work in association with area design/build groups and local craftspeople in order to broaden my capacity to serve my clients' interests.
