I am Southern Illinois based designer and custom builder with 18 years experience in metal fabrications, carpentry and custom installations. My background in both sculpture and architecture have helped in developing the capacity to recognize the spatial implications and conceptual potency of the objects with which we interact daily.
I have a particular interest in objects and installations that produce spatial relationships between users, program shifts and versatility, and help the owner/occupant express themselves through the act of dwelling.
I believe in the intuitions of my clients, and work to maintain an open dialogue and a collaborative spirit. As such, I often work in association with area design/build groups and local craftspeople in order to broaden my capacity to serve my clients' interests.

For Renata's Steel Bench Ends2.5Pros: Joshua and I agreed on 2 raw steel bench ends back in October. They are the exact dimensions I requested and I can see his excellent craftsmanship.
Cons: The bench ends that arrived are black and I specifically requested raw steel, so I did not receive what I requested/paid for (upfront). Communication was a big problem with this maker - I had to ask CustomMade to intervene after he ignored two (very friendly!) messages inquiring about the status of my order for weeks. They shipped 3 weeks later than what we had agreed upon. - MW

We needed to replicate some existing handmade desks and tables as part of an office expansion, and our original carpenter was unavailable. Joshua provided CAD mockups based only on the original quote photos and instantly assured us of his skills and comprehension of the needs. He also took the time to send us stain samples to ensure the finish of the new surfaces matched our existing pieces. He shipped the desks disassembled to save us on transit costs, and everything arrived in perfect shape, extra hardware and all. And the pieces are beautiful and built exactly to spec. The company owners remarked that the Object A desks are nicer than our originals. Well done, Josh. Thank you for the wonderful work.
