Cherry Queen Size Pencil Post Bedframe (Bed)

Cherry Queen Size Pencil Post Bedframe (Bed)

$2,000

This was a custom build in Cherry but can be done in most any hardwood. The finish is tung oil. This frame utilizes a unique approach to attaching the cross slats (under the boxspring) that affords a rock solid foundation for your boxspring and mattress. We spent a lot of time fine tuning this frame and feel that this is among the sturdiest hardwood frames currently available anywhere. All of my bedframes employ a unique feature that allows the owner to place the boxspring at the exact desired height. Basically, five different heights are available; you won't find a sturdier, more versatile hardwood bedframe anywhere. As well, this bedframe can be fully disassembled for ease of shipping.

My name is Edward Cooper and I have been working with wood in some form or fashion for about 30 years. I started my journey with wood as a carpenter, but have been building furniture for about 10 years. I love working with cherry and pine the most but have worked in most domestic hardwoods as well.

Education and Experience

After college, I practiced carpentry full time. I have had the pleasure to work as a renovator in some beautiful homes and buildings across the country. As well, I got to examine a lot of antique furniture and millwork. This gave me a unique opportunity to see firsthand how wood moves through the years and take note of time-tested joinery techniques. I use this experience to incorporate traditional joinery that I feel will last a lifetime. As well, I have had many great woodworking teachers through the years, namely Mike Siemsen of Chisago City, Minnesota and Brent Thorgren of Rockland, Michigan. And I have to mention Paul Sellers of Stockport, England for his priceless tips and tricks for tool sharpening.

A Few Words about my Furniture

I design most of my furniture to be disassembled for flat shipping. You will be pleasantly surprised by how easy my tables and bedframes can be constructed in your home, either by yourself or with a friend to assist you. I always try to be available by phone on the day of assembly. My goal was to spend less on shipping and pass these savings on to my customers.

As well, you will find my pieces to be among the sturdiest available anywhere. I usually use mortise and tenon joinery on my bedframes and hide glue or Titebond. I have found that steel thru-bolts afford the strongest joints and I use them whenever I can.

Finally, my stains, finishes and topcoats are of the highest quality and applied by hand.

To My Customers

The CustomMade site is a great opportunity for me and my clients and it is truly an honor to be listed as a craftsman here. As a custom furniture maker, I can't think of a better way to connect with like-minded lovers of all things wood. I look forward to working with you and creating a piece that you and your family will enjoy for years to come.
