Wooden Whistle (African Blackwood)
This style of whistle was created because my daughter asked if I could make one she'd seen in a book. I took that idea and made a couple of modifications and now you get what you see here. Whistles are best made with hardwoods due to their robust nature. They are great for kids to play with and can be helpful in many ways. For instance, you or your child or adult friend are separated in a store, at a camp site, playing Marco Polo…blow this and as long as they know to listen for it they can find you.

I am a Veteran and a Woodworker. I have been turning wood for about 6 years now and I make anything from pens, spinning tops, wooden whistles, bottle stoppers, bowls, boxes, and more. I am NOT a production woodturner, meaning I cannot do mass items quickly.
I am a self-taught woodworker and turner who, in my travels, has participated in AAW sponsored woodturning groups for about 2 years before being deployed.
My work started in the form of custom pens when I worked at the Pentagon where the movers and shakers of this amazing country do their work with mine. The first question asked of me for years was "Can you engrave the pen(s)?". Well, I'm happy to say that I have upgraded my business to include a Glowforge™ 3D Laser Printer. This allows me to not only engrave but to produce laser-made products and engraving services as well.
