Nowadays shops are full of mass produced items designed to please as many people as possible and last only a few years. My goal is to create pieces that are custom tailored to my clients and build them to last a lifetime.
After receiving my Industrial Design degree from Auburn University, I spent three years helping design spacecraft for NASA. In 2010 they changed their focus, and I moved to Massachusetts to see what else was out there. Since then I have been doing woodworking and carpentry with the hope of focusing on custom furniture.
I love to incorporate mechanisms and moving pieces into my woodwork. Little surprises and details are what make custom furniture worth the extra expense.

Dec 4, 2014I'm thrilled with the final product. Alex was wonderful at taking the examples I sent him and integrating them into some of my requested specifications and adjustments. He also offered me options and worked with me to keep the cost within my budget (type of wood, design, etc). Turn around time was quick and the piece looks fantastic. As an added plus, he even designed it to be easily broken down and re-assembled for transport and finishing (I opted to finish the piece myself to save on cost. Not only was he open to this idea, he actually recommended what he thought would work best with the wood he used and with the resources I had at my disposal at home!) I highly recommend working with Alex - he is a great craftsman and people person!

Alex was easy to work with throughout the project - he was happy to offer his own opinions to arrive at the final product I was envisioning, which was very helpful as someone with no expertise in woodworking. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted my end product to look like so Alex actually made two (at no extra cost!) and then I was able to choose between them. I would be happy to work Alex again on any future woodworking projects.
