Steel Rose, No Stem

Steel Rose, No Stem

$30

I made this one out of scrap metal found on site while touring through Portugal. It was cut and formed with an oxy-acetylene torch, a good pair of pliers, and brute force.

I've been building things about as long as I can remember. It started in my dad's woodshop when I was just a young boy and grew from there. I picked up leatherworking through Boy Scouts and the early American reenactment groups my family participated in. As an adult, I studied metalwork and spent a good bit of time working as a factory welder. I eventually combined my skills and put them to use building sets for theater and circus. I spent a number of years on the road, touring full time with the circus. While I was out, I started taking photographs, mostly of the critters I saw around me. These days I split my time between the shop and helping out large touring circus companies.

Halcyon Workshop is an outlet for my hodgepodge of skills. Through it, I combine wood, steel, leather, and any other interesting materials I come across to create anything from furniture to fire tools. I'm also building a collection of wildlife photography and would be overjoyed to have opportunities to work with that side of things.
