Organic Design Handcrafted Martial Art Sword Display
While designing custom sword stand for a client I realized that most of the displays out there are designed solely for function with little regard for the art that it displays. A martial art sword is a weapon used in an art that demands grace and flow of energy and with that in mind, this is one of the designs I developed. It is handcrafted from black walnut and cherry with a gloss lacquer finish to protect as well as enhance the colors. The long graceful stalks are hand-carved from black walnut and then sanded to a smooth finish. The tops were carved and shaped from aged cherry to resemble leaves. The two bowls are turned from solid cherry with the insides finished black with a technique that allows the finish to roll over the top edge creating an organic feel. Then everything sits on a solid piece of distressed cherry. Note: This listing is for the item pictured. Swords not included.

I use mostly native hardwoods from locally harvested trees that where felled due to storm damage or removed to make way for construction projects as well as salvaged wood from local barns and buildings.
