Carvings in Wood by Frederick Hamer
Fred is a wildlife artist, primarily in the genre of wood sculpture. He has worked as an illustrator for several publications, a park naturalist, a biologist, and bird tour leader.
Fred’s work currently resides in collections across the country. He exhibits and competes in a small number of shows yearly and has received many awards.
In the workshop with Fred:
Fred first draws his intentions in lifelike detail, to prepare for the actual sculpting of the work. He selects his materials- types of woods, metals and paints that will give the sculpture a realistic look. And then he begins the process.
Fred continues to travel to regional shows and competitions to both exhibit and sell his work.
