Dazzling Wizard Of Oz Quilt With Hand Applied Sequin Ruby Slippers And Appliqués

The majority of Wizard of Oz themed quilts you find use mostly standard licensed fabrics with the characters on them, so most of these quilts are the same. Not with this beauty! We wanted this quilt to really stand out, and to do so, we used only a few of the licensed fabrics and instead used our imagination to recreate scenes or phrases from the movie. This quilt took a lot of effort to make, as the ruby slippers and many of the blocks are meticulously hand applied or appliquéd.. There are several close up blocks we were not able to fit into the pictures added, so if there is a particular block you'd like to see, please feel free to email. The stunning, hand applied sequined ruby slippers on Dorothy's blue gingham material really set the whole quilt off. Bright, beautiful shades of reds, yellows and blues compliment each block as well as the back, which is covered in poppies from the film. On various blocks, you will see "happy little blue birds" flying above the two appliquéd rainbows, hot air balloons surrounded by wicker basket fabric, Glinda the good witch in her appliquéd bubble, Toto in his basket, and in the center, "There's No Place Like Home" is beautifully embroidered on the same blue gingham as the ruby slippers. A lot of the characters from the movie are also featured in the blocks or strips, including the Wicked Witch of the West, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion. This quilt is absolutely amazing and, as usual, pictures do not do it justice. The lovely yellow brick road border is quilted, and, if you'd like to see a picture of that, please email us.
