The idea for this chair was to use bent lamination to create a sleek and modern lounge chair. The seating position is low and relaxed without being too reclined for reading or conversation. The backrest is curved in both the width and height to provide nice support. The seat and back are woven in a traditional shaker tape, which compliments the contemporary design. Finished with a satin oil/varnish and edges have been softly eased.

Too often we buy poorly made things only to discard them and buy again. My aim is to produce finely made pieces of furniture that evoke a feeling of intimacy through subtle details and proportion while conveying a sense of durability that over time, each piece will become even more beautiful as it is being used.
Simple and elegant designs are formed using time tested joinery and a thoughtful selection of material for each component. All surfaces, even the ones never intended to be seen, are meticulously hand planed, and sanded until satiny smooth. Working wood is a slow and methodical test of knowledge, skill, and patience that hopefully results in not only a functional object, but also, a connection between the maker, material, and user.
