"Primordial" - 3d Abstract Wall Art
This piece is from one of my "darker periods" when I was experimenting with metallic color against a background that retarded the metallic properties of color from overpowering the work. The metallic colors are gold, silver and copper in approximately equal amounts. All of the metallic colors are in cavities within the work. The piece is made from aircraft foam, liquid vinyl, a wood base and automotive colors with a 98% UV protective clear coat. The size is approx. 42" wide by 18.5" high by 3.5" deep. It weighs approx. 18 lbs. Will not be duplicated.

Compared to the traditional methods of matting and framing my process weighs a very small fraction in comparison.

The technique was "discovered", at least the basic premise, while helping a friend with some body work on his car. After years of experimentation and trial and error with different materials, I discovered aircraft foam and liquid vinyl (I was working for an international airline at the time).
The process requires considerable expense as a spray booth is required to comply with state and federal laws.
There are no limitations for the application of the process and have even customized a car's paint and body, created signs, made furniture, clocks, and other household items.
