Reclaimed Piano Coffee Table

$3,500

Each is as unique as the piano from which these come. The frame from within a reclaimed piano was plucked out and converted into a classic-modern coffee table. Solid metal legs and spacers were affixed into the frame. The wood on the edge was finished to pick up the red felt integrated into the frame. A reclaimed piece of tempered window glass from St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco to create a see-through table top. Clear rubber pads applied on spacers to protect the glass from slipping; felt gliders applied to bottom of legs. This was sold to a buyer in Texas. Each is unique.

I managed to make two dog beds from an empty wine barrel. I found, after an Internet search that this was not a new concept, but I made mine better; my finish was more upscale and consequently partnered with a pet bed company in San Francisco. In short, that was the genesis of Wine Barrel Concepts.

With a little work and creativity, I make a piano into an artistic table. So many people have never seen the inside of a piano and within all pianos vests a beautiful steel frame with elegant wooden pieces and visually intersecting strings. Their geometry is unique and many are discarded after years of use.

Further, I have salvaged materials from St. Mary's Cathedral and The War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. And from these salvaged items I have made many more interesting and creative pieces.

There is a great sense of creativity from what I do and often enjoy new ideas and projects. There is something to be said about making something by hand from an object others see everyday.
