The Buddha In Stained Glass

The Buddha In Stained Glass

$4,400

This artwork of the Buddha in stained glass is currently for sale. It is one of my favorite artworks, and I hang it often in my living room window even though I am not a Buddhist. This artwork is constructed with both lead came and copper foil… not an easy undertaking. The Buddha is constructed in copper foil, which I think is the proper choice for almost all representational designs. The visual mantra background is constructed in lead came, which I think is the proper choice for all geometric designs in stained glass. All metallic parts (lead came, and solder-covered-copper-foil) have been darkened to a charcoal gray with a chemical patina. The bindi (small dot on the forehead) is a red cast glass jewel that has been permanently glued to the Buddha's forehead. The colors look more accurate on the left side of the photo with the exception of the outer green, which looks better at 2-o'clock. This artwork is framed in an oak frame, which looks black in this photo but actually has a clearly visible wood grain with a medium stain. The size, including the frame, is just over 35".

I have been making stained glass for 50 years, since I took it up as a hobby at the age of eleven. I have been a full-time stained glass artist since 1975. I've won numerous awards for both my design and my craftsmanship.

I have completed commissions throughout the U.S. and Canada, and shipped my ready-made artworks as far as Dublin, Ireland. I also teach my unique methodology for making precision stained glass in a 43-hour set of DVDs, and I have sold hundreds of these sets in 15 countries so far.

As a visual artist, I invite you to view my images and compare the design and craftsmanship for yourself. Whether you are considering the purchase of an already-made stained glass artwork or commissioning new custom stained or beveled glass, I am confident that I can address both your desires and needs.
