Heron And Stone Bridge In Stained Glass

$2,400

As wildlife art in stained glass goes, herons are a bit overused, in my opinion. For that reason, I wanted to create a heron themed stained glass artwork that would be truly special. Success! This artwork turned out so well, we're enjoying in our home until you decide to enjoy it in yours! It truly is stunning, or so my mother told me when she last visited. The heron, the stone bridge, and the background of trees in autumn combine in a breathtaking way. This heron stained glass artwork is copper-foiled. The incorporation of many tiny pieces of glass (over a hundred in the bridge alone) and some very odd shaped pieces makes copper foil the right choice for an artwork such as this. The process of copper foiling so many tiny and convoluted pieces of glass is very hard on my hands, especially my fingernails, but the end result is worth a few days of tender fingertips and mangled fingernails. This artwork is 17 1/4" wide and 40 3/8" tall, including the custom made walnut frame that cannot be seen in these photos. The solder that covers all of the copper foil has been darkened with a black patina, which makes all of the leadlines look charcoal gray.

I have been making stained glass for 50 years, since I took it up as a hobby at the age of eleven. I have been a full-time stained glass artist since 1975. I've won numerous awards for both my design and my craftsmanship.

I have completed commissions throughout the U.S. and Canada, and shipped my ready-made artworks as far as Dublin, Ireland. I also teach my unique methodology for making precision stained glass in a 43-hour set of DVDs, and I have sold hundreds of these sets in 15 countries so far.

As a visual artist, I invite you to view my images and compare the design and craftsmanship for yourself. Whether you are considering the purchase of an already-made stained glass artwork or commissioning new custom stained or beveled glass, I am confident that I can address both your desires and needs.
