The Truth Behind The Weather

$3,900

This steampunk stained glass artwork titled, "The Truth Behind the Weather" is currently for sale. Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction based on the notion of what the present and future might look like if steam power had never been replaced by electricity and/or internal combustion. Steampunk art and steampunk literature are gaining popularity, and I wanted to create something in this relatively new genre. Although first attempts at photographing my work usually produce only decent results, the main photo here is actually quite good. The wide gray band in the flywheel that the pendulum is attached to is darker in the actual artwork, but everything else looks pretty good. My attempt at fantasy steampunk art is made with 3/16" lead in the human figures and gears, 3/8" lead in the background bricks and sky, and 1/2" lead in the fan-belts. All lead and solder has been darkened to a charcoal gray with a chemical patina. The wood frame is painted flat black, with a clear satin (not glossy) polyurethane finish. Also, there are actually three white glasses used in this steampunk artwork. The white in the "FAiR" and "NOT FAiR" boxes is solid white, the white in the humanoid figures is an opaque wispy white, and the white in the clouds is an iridized white, which means it has a very slight pink and turquoise tinge to it in the daytime and will look VERY shiny and colorful at night, when light is bouncing off the surface of the glass rather than coming through the glass. The stained glass measures just over 40" wide by 32" high. With the wood frame, the total size is 46" wide by 38" inches high. The price of this steampunk stained glass is $3900.00. I have been making stained glass for 50 years, since I took it up as a hobby at the age of eleven. I have been a full-time stained glass artist since 1975. I've won numerous awards for both my design and my craftsmanship.

I have completed commissions throughout the U.S. and Canada, and shipped my ready-made artworks as far as Dublin, Ireland. I also teach my unique methodology for making precision stained glass in a 43-hour set of DVDs, and I have sold hundreds of these sets in 15 countries so far.

As a visual artist, I invite you to view my images and compare the design and craftsmanship for yourself. Whether you are considering the purchase of an already-made stained glass artwork or commissioning new custom stained or beveled glass, I am confident that I can address both your desires and needs.
