Stickley Hall Clock

$7,500

Mission Oak tall case clock after a design Gustav Stickley published in the December 1905 edition of The Craftsman. Design softened by adding curved rail elements but is otherwise faithful to the original. Case tapers from top to bottom and is constructed of quarter sawn white oak using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, finished with ammonia fuming and shellac typical of the era. Solid brass hinge and knob hardware patinated to a mellow aged appearance. Built from quarter sawn northern white oak to rehouse an antique Kobold weight driven grandfather clock works of the same vintage (as the original clock case was damaged in steamer transit across the Atlantic). These works were salvaged by the original owner, stored by his descendents for nearly a century, and then professionally restored to excellent working order by a competent clock mechanic for use in this reproduction case.
