The antique hammered copper repousse plates used in the side doors of the top organizer unit were the inspiration for this imposing desk, hand crafted entirely of solid quarter sawn white oak with exceptional figure utiliizing traditional mortise and tenon joinery. The plates are reminiscent of the Tudric style work of famous silversmith Archibald Knox popularized by Liberty of London. A period correct asphaltum finish was achieved using a gilsonite and boiled linseed oil stain top coated with orange shellac and satin varnish all rubbed out to a fine low gloss sheen.
