Greene And Greene Inspired Mahogany Table

$1,600

Greene And Greene Inspired Mahogany Table. Built mostly in a more elegant Arts & Crafts style popularized by Charles and Henry Greene in the early part of the 20th century, this is one of my favorite styles of architecture and furniture. This piece was made for a local customer who wanted an extra long coffee table for in front of his windows in his living room. The top is one solid piece of beautifully "ribbon striped" african mahogany nearly 17" wide. The pictures don't quite do it justice. Breadboard ends help keep the top flat. Gaboon Ebony plugs and splines contrast with the mahogany beautifully. Finish is boiled linseed oil, shellac, and lacquer.

I have always had a passion for woodworking. I have been working with wood in one form or another since I was 16 years old. I spent my high school summers and the following 5 years working for a general contractor doing remodels, additions and homes in the Boulder, CO area. My favorite part of that was always doing the custom stuff. Built in entertainment centers, bookshelves, custom cabinets and handrails. So I spent the next few years working for a high end cabinet and millwork shop doing most of their work in the Aspen, CO area. With access to an array of tools and lots of "scrap" wood It was here that my love of fine furniture and my skills really developed. Slowly my own tool collection grew and so did my desire to get away from production work and more into hand crafted custom items, and making the kind of stuff that gets passed down from generation to generation.

I have been pursuing my passion nearly full time on my own for five years now. I say "nearly" because with my wife working part time, I am blessed enough to get to spend three days a week with my two beautiful kids.

I enjoy all types and styles of furniture, from Arts and crafts & Greene and Greene to modern and contemporary. I will tackle all types of projects from big to small. I've done everything from entertainment centers, to jewelry and keepsake boxes, dining tables, coffee tables, chairs, blanket chests, dressers, custom trim, shelving, and mantels. I've even done a couple of really nice pet coffins. : (

I really like seeing my visions come to life in the form of fine furniture, and turning a stack of rough lumber into something beautiful that will last a lifetime. I would love to build something custom for you, and help you make your vision come to life as well.
