This table was a commission piece for a client in Rhode Island. The table is to be used as a center piece in her library. and on special dinner occasions. In keeping with my clients designs of her home and furnishings. this table was built entirely by hand. the only electrons that were harmed in the construction of this table were used to power my lights, air conditioner, and radio. materials consists of sassafras for the top and lower cross support. Ash for the legs, feet and upper supports. This table was built in the classic farm house harvest table style. with bread board ends that have draw bored tennons. that will allow seasonal movement of the table top. The legs, feet, and top supports are all draw bored tennons as well. the lower cross support is dovetailed into the top of the feet. It was my intention to build this table to outlast the next ice age, or nuclear attack! This piece is among my personal favorites.

Hello,
My name is John Kunstman, I build custom heirloom furniture and other wooden pieces. I am a full time firefighter / paramedic for my day job, and build custom furniture as a hobby. This allows me to spend extra attention to details that make the piece perfect.
In my shop hand tools are used to build my furniture pieces. Yes, i do have electricity, how ever its main use is for lights and a radio. And an occasional saw or other tool.
I bring 30 plus years of experience, which started working with my father since i was old enough to get in the way.
I hope to build your next heirloom piece that you will be proud to pass on to your family to enjoy.
Thank you

For The Limbert Smokers' StoolJohn is a very conscientious craftsman with a high sense of integrity and a definite love of his work. The shipping mark is not a reflection on him, but on UPS's handling of the delivery of my stool. Once it left the local UPS store in the Nashville area, the handlers basically mashed it. Even though the shipping mishap was not his doing, John is bending over backwards in order to make sure that everything is made right. I recommend working with him.

For Sofa table ProjectOh My Gosh! Working from a small photo, he recreated a $7000 table, only in much nicer wood. And for much less money. Plus he tweaked the design to work with my specs.
The legs in particular are gorgeously carved. And the wood is finished to a rich gloss. This is really great wood too -the table is far heavier than most tables sold in stores.
I am delighted with my table. Thank you!
