Old English Fireplace Bench - 'Cut' Bench Model
A club fender 'cut' bench. The simplicity and understated elegance is true to the design and materials of old English fireplace benches made in England before the Industrial revolution (c 1800 and before). We size each bench for the intended hearth and add features to the balusters, upholstering and base-plate that we'll discuss with you. Also, see samples of our 'full' bench, our 'dip' bench and 'corner set' bench models. The 'cut' bench combines the features and functions of a 'full' and corner set' bench: rigidity, weight, design interest and design interest, seating and ease tending the fire. What distinguishes an Old English Fireplace Bench from the more familiar 20th century club fenders is solid iron and forge construction. Contemporary English club fenders are made with hollow and extruded brass components in machine shops using nut & bolt assembly.

We custom make the 19th century version of the iconic English club fender fireplace bench. Our benches are exceptional by virtue of their 200+ year styling and the large amount of iron we use for the bases. Plus our benches are hand forged, individually designed and sized for the intended hearth. We upholster in leather or your material. The base set upon a hardwood skirt adds an extra element of design and elegance.
A club fender fireplace bench adds extra seats without taking space, adds design and beauty to the fireplace, makes tending fires easy from a seated position, and more. It dresses up a plain mantel or compliments an expensive one. We work with professional fireplace stone masons and custom mantel makers.
