*In Progress. This is an Elephant I made into bronze using the lost wax process. Approximately 15" X 9". I first sculpted it in Plastalina Clay. I then made a mold out of Polytek rubber and casted it in wax. I then sprued and invested the piece. Put it in the kiln and finally poured the bronze.

Hey there! My name is Melissa, I am 22 years old, and currently a Junior at Pratt Institute studying for my BFA in painting. I come from Bergen County, NJ and I live in Manhattan, NY. Outside of school I have a cake business. I create unique, artistic tiered and sculpted cakes, my specialty is realistic animals. I hope to pursue my cakes as a long term career after college!
My work on custom made is anything related to the fine arts. I love to sculpt and can work with many materials including clay, wood, plaster and metals. Realism is my strongest suit and as a trained painter I can add that extra detail and depth to a piece to make it come to life. For my paintings I work mostly with oils. But I have worked with most mediums before including, acrylic and watercolor. I also have great experience with drawing, printmaking and airbrush. I always look forward to a challenge and the chance to try new ideas and ways of working. Hoping to connect and bring your inspirations to life!
