Porcelain platter with inlaid drawing of home, or any other image of your choice: a memory you can hold in your hand forever. Platter measures 13.25 x 13.25 x 3 inches. All drawings are inlaid by hand by the artist herself. Influenced by her longing to return to the comfort and stability of home, Nicole uses architectural imagery, coupled with the movement of glaze, to elicit memories of times past. Dishwasher safe!

Fascinated by the potential of place to define & connect us, Nicole draws subtle narratives on tableware to elicit memories: she creates a story you can hold in your hand forever. Imagery inlaid by hand with a knife prompt display of her work when not in use, as a meaningful addition to any collection. Nicole explores the need to collect, as a way to preserve the past and satisfy the longing with which we inhabit the world: driven by a desire to hold onto that which will inevitably be lost.
Nicole Aquillano was raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She took the unconventional path to becoming a full-time studio potter by first pursuing a career in civil engineering; eventually following her passion to Rhode Island School of Design to earn an MFA in ceramics. In 2012, Nicole set up her studio in the Fort Point Area of Boston. Each piece is a unique, dishwasher safe creation made entirely by Nicole herself.
