ABOUT ME
I have been working with steel and concrete as a sculptor for over 45 years. My fascination with these materials - especially steel - began as a child when I joined my father to watch him repair the railroad for the Norfolk and Western Railway in Virginia. Back then I was amazed that the seemingly indestructible steel was simultaneously flexible enough to curve and twist into so many shapes that helped build the miles of undulating track my father maintained. My fascination in materials and shapes led me to pursue an MFA, which I received from the University of Iowa in 1968. Since that time I have produced hundreds of sculptures for private collections and over 35 pieces commissioned for public display in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

ABOUT MY BUSINESS
I produce medium to large sculptures of steel, aluminum, bronze, concrete, and various stone types on commission working out of my studios in New Carlisle, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. Additionally, I am available to refurbish and restore works of similar size and materials throughout the country.

ABOUT MY WORK
As a sculptor, I have always sought to bring that tension into focus with pieces that - despite their immense size and weight - convey the malleability and movement I first appreciated in steel decades ago. Throughout my career, I have tended to produce pieces as a series so that I could explore a consistent theme through several iterations, focusing at times on spans, cantilevers, movement, balance, or more abstract concepts such as celestial navigation.

Recently, I’ve been exploring the “efficiency of shapes” through a series of furniture pieces, resulting in a rustic-looking series of coffee tables and end tables made from raw steel and poured concrete.
