During the early 90's I worked on a project for a client who had a ranch in Bandera ,Texas. The initial piece was a garden window that was cut out of steel and that was to have a Texas Hill Country critter kind of theme. I designed a number of animal themed works for other areas of the property. This project gave me a great direction to take with my own images and work for other clients. Cut steel sheet is great for outdoor display and the images can be designed for decorative privacy screens ,furniture, fencing and gates. I think of this work as relating stylistically to wood cut prints where strong black and white shapes play off each other to create an exciting and powerful image. The play of light and shadow on the cut out sections adds another visual aspect to the work.

I have always used the natural world to help me create a
visual world of my own. The rhythms and patterns of
animals, trees ,and nature contribute to the composition of
my work. I find that observation of the real is essential to
my expression of the unreal that dwells in my art.
