Living Room And Kitchen Storage

This old house needed storage for a growing family so this is what we did, In the kitchen we took the corner where everyone tossed their stuff when they came in and built a closet with an old door we found in the garage. We dismantled the door and recut the pieces to size so they would match the existing doors in the house, stripped all the old lead paint for the kids safety and made it look like it was always there. On the back side of the closet we built pine storage boxes with dovetail joints and brass cup pulls on both sides so the boxes could be removed and carried around In the living room we utilized the empty nooks on either side of the fireplace and fabricated built ins for entertainment equipment and other storage. The built ins were mounted of feet to disguise how unlevel the floors were and we distressed the countertops to match the old wide pine flooring.
