Ebony Tailpiece For Banjo

$40+

Built for gut/nylon/Nylgut strings, the shape of this ebony banjo tailpiece is derived from a number of vintage designs I've found – mostly from the pre-1900 era. It consists of two pieces of Ebony that are joined with grain in opposing (perpendicular) directions. This guards against warping, splitting or shearing of the wood under tension from the strings. The recessed holes allow gut or synthetic strings with a knotted end to be pulled through and seat snugly along the top.

Hello. And thanks for your interest in my work.

These are handmade banjos of character and distinction, crafted in the old time tradition. I build them by hand, using tools and techniques from over 100 years ago.

I emphasize the quality, finish and playability of my instruments – with special attention given to you, the player, and your preferences.

Enjoy!
