Modern Cut-Out Dress
This piece is a great example of simple but complicated. This dress was for the Cartel Noir 2014 collection. It is made from a modal blend fabric that was imported from Italy. The devil is in the details. The work on the back had to be done largely by hand on the seams. A small bit of elastic stabilizer is placed around all of the edges to anticipate the stretch in the fabric. The pattern was nuanced and we loved making it - we had to have it fit the widest range of women possible while still making it a stand-out.
