These handsome plaques measure approximately 12 inches in diameter, 1/2" thick and are made from baltic birch. Each piece is given an American flag background, hand-stained in multiple colors and assembled using a layering technique to create 3 dimensions. All are finished with a scalloped cutout on the back for hanging. The darker ring may be personalized with up to 17 characters each along the top and bottom for FREE! Just received the AF Wall Plaque and, though the workmanship is very nice, I was disappointed when I saw the finished product due to the description under the item that I read prior to ordering it is being somewhat misleading. The description reads "handsome plaques measure approximately 12 inches in diameter, 1/2" thick and are made from Baltic birch. I have no problem with the diameter being slightly less than 12", but the thickness of the first layer is only 1/4" thick and I thought that was going to be 1/2" thick. If you add the overall thicknesses of all three layers, you get 7/16" which is pretty close to the 1/2" in the description.
