ABOUT ME
My name is Lora and I’ve been a potter since I first stepped into the “art barn” during my high school senior year. Something about the vibes in that place drew me in. The musty, dusty smell, the bins of different shaped tools, the rows, and rows of glaze jars. It had a warmth I couldn’t resist. Something about taking a lump of dirt and creating something beautiful and useful at the same time, with just your hands and some water, it just fed my soul and I've been hooked on clay ever since. I have been making pottery for over 20 years now and I am happiest when I am sitting at my wheel with clay up to my elbows creating something special for someone with a shared vision.
ABOUT MY WORK
I make all my pottery on the wheel myself — one at a time and 100% by hand — and fire it to between 1800 and 2200 degrees Fahrenheit in an electric kiln. I use several different clays – earthenware, stoneware, porcelain – although stoneware is my favorite.
I make all sorts of different wares - functional dishware and kitchen supplies, decorative pieces, special occasion orders for weddings, funerals, new babies, and gift-giving of all shapes and sizes. I absolutely LOVE doing custom orders for people. From the initial conversation to the delivery of the piece, everything about a commissioned work is exciting and fulfilling. It makes me so happy to think that I can help bring a customer's vision to life and give them something that is uniquely theirs.
All of my pieces are food safe and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe unless otherwise noted.
